Holy Baptism is the basis for the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit” and provides access to the other Sacraments.  The Lord has told us through Scripture that it is necessary for salvation and leaves an indelible spiritual mark who receives its graces, not just through the forgiveness of sins, but through renewal and rebirth in the Holy Spirit.

Baptism is available for anyone of any age as long as they have not been previously baptized in a Trinitarian faith.  For those between the ages of 13-18, the OLG RCIA Teen program is available.

Step 1 of 3

  • Requirements to Baptize Your Child(ren)

    1. The preparation class is scheduled the first Wednesday of each month (except December), from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Church Rectory/Meeting Room. Class Fee is $25.00 due on the night of class. Cash or checks payable to Our Lady of Grace.

    2. Call the Parish Office to register for the course and to provide names of people attending. If you bring your child or children, please bring activities for them to keep busy so as not to disrupt the class.

    3. Parents must be registered and active members in Our Lady of Grace Church or another Catholic Parish for at least six months before the Baptism, for those who wish to baptize their child/children at OLG. Non-OLG Parishioners must provide a letter of good standing from the Church they currently attend.

    4. For children seven years and under, the Baptism is considered “baptism for an infant.” For children over 7, the family must register with the OLG RCIA Instructors for preparation. Call the Parish Office to notify.

    5. For forms and other required paperwork, call the Parish Office to pick up or visit our website at www.westsacolg.com then print. Forms can be faxed to the requester as well. Fill out forms completely, sign and turn in before or at your scheduled preparation class.

    6. Required Forms include General Information and Registration, Choosing the Godparents/Sponsors, and the Godparent/Sponsor Commitment Form. If you plan to baptize your child(ren) at another Parish, we will provide the Permission Letter. If you need a letter showing class completion, put an “L” by your name at time of class sign-in and provide address where it is to be mailed or take it with you after class.

    7. If all required paperwork is not received before the scheduled Baptism, the Baptism will be postponed or canceled.

    8. If you have questions or concerns, you can request a meeting with our Priest.
